What Is M4A

M4A is actually MPEG-4 audio file. M4A was introduced by Apple to indicate audio only. A M4A file contains audio information compressed with MPEG-4 technology, which is a lossy compression algorithm, similar to MP3 one. However, unlike MP3, M4A maintains relatively higher quality with smaller file size.

To open M4A files, you can use Apple QuickTime player or iTunes.
